TASTING NOTES: Earthy | Relaxing with Sweet, Floral notes
The valerian root also known as ‘sugandhbala’ in India grows on the rolling hills and deep valleys of Kalimpong in the temperate Himalayas. It is this tranquil terroir that produces ingredients that are blended together in this blend. The result is a light, earthy, and gently floral cup of tea that will steep you into relaxation.

They move in sync over a resplendent dance floor of single estate Organic Darjeeling Green, considered the champagne of tea, which offers a complex, yet delicate, vegetal undertone.

Makaibari Estate was founded 160 years ago and houses one of the oldest tea factories of the world. Spanning over six Himalayan ridges, the world’s most iconic tea grows in the wild amidst ancient forests, which are home to a staggering variety of flora & fauna including leopards, hornbills & butterflies. Each of which play a unique role in the estate’s ecological diversity and the terroir from which emerges this sublime tea. Permaculture & biodynamic practices make the estate truly integrated with nature and its ecosystem.

Freshly harvested Makaibari Darjeeling Tea, with mild floral notes - the best natural flavour the worlds has to offer. The uniqueness of this Makaibari Darjeeling Black tea is in its creation - it is grown biodynamically - surrounded by forests that feed its flavour. It is then plucked ceremonially, to the tune of a cosmic calendar, dictated by the rhythms of the sun and the moon.
Tasting Notes: Fresh, delicate, floral, astringent with hints of peach.

The Estate: From the iconic Makaibari Tea Estate in Darjeeling, comes the Summer Solstice tea also termed as the second flush. Amidst pristine Himalayan forests, this Darjeeling Makaibari tea is grown in harmony with the nature surrounding it. The leaves are harvested at dawn during May - June. The resulting cup is light, soothing and delicate with a fresh yet intense aroma.
Grown amidst ancient forests at the foothills of the Himalayas, our Darjeeling green tea is revered as a herb.
This green tea was first developed in 2004 when Gyokuro Sensi Tokishaku Yamashita visited us in the Himalayas. This tea finds devoted connoisseurs in Japan, even though the country itself produces some of the finest Darjeeling Makaibari green teas in the world. Its unique balance of sweetness and astringency with notes of fresh corn, make it a favourite amongst tea drinkers in Tokyo. It is high in Orac values and may be taken through the day.

Makaibari Estate: The iconic Makaibari estate in Darjeeling produces exceptional green tea. Select leaves are plucked from chosen organic tea bushes between June to November and delicately processed with no oxidation. The emerald green dry leaves with flecks of white tips are rich in antioxidants and possess strong revitalizing properties. The cup is a taste of the surrounding forest on dewy mornings - a clear brew which is fresh and lively on the palate.
